Gerhard Franken is a native of the Western Cape where his hospitality career started over 28 years ago. He spent nearly 10 years in London where he obtained his Marketing and Business Administration qualifications. He managed several hotels and was part of the Visit London Tourism Association. During this time, he helped plan the Olympic Games of 2012 and visited several International Trade Shows. After returning to South Africa, he continued in the hospitality industry. He started off as Food and Beverage Manager at Protea Hotels before he received offers from a 5-star hotel. Hereafter he managed 4- and 5-star properties. He then spent 5 years as manager ofOcean Basket Mall of the North before joining Rootz Africa. He was the Marketing and Communications Director for Rootz Africa. He is Chairperson for the Polokwane and previously also Chairperson for Limpopo Tourism Associations. He is also a member of the provincial tourism forum of LEDET. He has also been privileged to be a Judge for Lilizela. He is passionate about every aspect Hospitality related and believes in the development and growth of his province and country. He has recently been running Naledi Hospitality with the emphasis on community development, skills development, and economic growth. As a Grading assessor he is passionate about seeing properties being quality assured to be in line with compliance and ensuring our Visitors have the best of the best when visiting South Africa.
